Element Rules:

The data entry must include an Alphabetical or Alphanumeric Listing Identifier (ALI) Code, the guideline data of the established listing (enclosed in parentheses) under which the alternate call indent is to appear, a Degree of Indention and an Alternate Call Phrase.
The guideline data may include the surname or firm name, given name and/or initials associated with the surname, additional names, words or letters associated with the firm name, titles of lineal descent (surname listings only), titles of address (surname listings only) and the Listing Instruction Code (DNA).
The maximum of 1000 characters of data includes the Designation (DGN) FID and its data.
The following Listing Instruction Codes allowed with AC are mutually exclusive within the same data entry and when present, must appear as the first data in the data entry:
- (DLR)
- (ENP)
- (NON-LIST)
- (OPD)
- (SPNL)
- (SPNP)
- (TLN)
Additionally, if the following Listing Instruction Codes appear, they should be sequenced as shown:
- (CEX)
- (LNB)
- (LNG)
- (LNR)
- (OATD)
- (ODAS)
- (OCLS)
- (ONAD)
- (EMER)
- (QREF)
- (VEX)
- (NWPS)
- (WNIB)
Comma and space separates surname from given name and/or initials, and also given name and/or initials from titles of address (COL, REV, DR, etc.) in the guideline data.
Semicolon identifies the finding word or letter(s) in firm name listings in the guideline data.
A single  hyphen may be used between words, numbers, letters or groups of letters. They are treated as spaces. A double hyphen identifies a caption or subcaption entry.
Parentheses enclose guideline data, i.e., the portions of a listing that are already established.
Plus sign precedes lineal descent suffixes (JR, SR, etc.) in surname listings.
Double parentheses may be used only when the parentheses are to print in the directory.
A double virgule is used when the virgule is to appear printed in the directory. A single virgule is allowed only preceding a floated FID.
Asterisk indicates capitalization exception.
