BACKUP CIRCUIT

INDICATES:

This FID is used on the circuit USOC logical line to indicate that the circuit is used as a backup to an existing service.  When data follows the FID, it provides the primary circuit identification of the service being backed up.

FID RULES/CONSTRAINTS:

1. X action code prohibited on Access Service orders.
2. At the time of issuance, this FID was not supported by all Telcordia and/or Ericsson Operations Support Systems (OSSs).  Please check with your local OSS staff for processing capabilities (current and/or proposed) for the specific OSS.

SERVICE ORDER ACTIVITY NOTES:

1. In response to a service outage, traffic is switched to the backup circuit specified in the BKUP FID.
2. Absence of the BKUP FID indicates that the backup circuit function is shared across multiple circuits.
