FID RULES/CONSTRAINTS:

1. LD and its data are entered floating after the left-hand FID LA (Listed Address), LN (Listed Name) or a substitute entry for LN e.g., NLST (Non-Listed Name) or NP (Non-Published Name), etc. on N, T, C and X type service orders.  The LD number must be one for which a telephone number assignment is requested in the S&E Section of the same service order.
2. Use of this FID is recommended only when:
   
   a mechanized assignment system is used and
   
   the mechanized assignment system or the service order processing system is programmed to replace all LD entries throughout the order with the actual assigned telephone number - or with only the line number in appropriate situations behind the FEA or HTG FIDs - before the order is initially transmitted to installation forces.
3. LD and its data are entered floating after each assignable USOC which requires a line designation number to identify the line with which it is associated.  LD may float preceding or following any other FIDs which float after each line USOC.
4. Section : ASGM     Position : FL
   LD is entered floating following the TN entry.
5. If multiple telephone number assignments are requested for a given line in a 1AESS or 2ESS traffic unit via the use of LD on input, LD is output separately following each TN entry.
6. Section : ASGM     Position : FL
   This FID is entered in the Miscellaneous Subset, Central Office Facilities Subset, and Outside Plant Facilities Subset.
7. SERIES AND RANGE ENTRIES - PROCESSING
   Service Order Analysis and Control System (SOAC) should process series and range data entries using the DISTRIBUTE algorithm.

SERVICE ORDER ACTIVITY NOTES:

1. Section:  S&E     Position:  FL
   When line designations and telephone numbers are used for lines in ESS multiline groups, an LD or TN number is required for the first line of an ESS multiline hunt group.  Each line in an ESS multiline non-hunt group (No. 1 ESS only) requires LD or TN.
2. If a line designation number is to be added to an existing line identified by a TER number, the line USOC requiring telephone number, line equipment, and outside plant assignments is shown changed (C and T or C and X) with LD and the line designation number entered floating on the change to (T or X) entry.
