FID RULES/CONSTRAINTS:

  1. The element combination chart has been eliminated because of the many possible combinations derived.
  2. The LMU FID will be placed on the next logical line following the last cable pair assignment for each loop on a service order.  Only an I (In) action code will be used with this FID.  The information following the LMU FID will be a concatenated string of the loop segment (i.e. F1,F2,F3,..Fn) make-ups for the entire loop.
  3. Colon separates one element from the next. It occurs after elements 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14.
  4. Double Colon is used to indicate the end of a bridge tap or buildout and to revert back to the previous cable description.
  5. No separator is used between elements 2&3, 4&5, 6&7, 9&10, 11&12 and between 3&13 when the Load Coil Indicator is concatenated with the Cable Length Indicator element.
  6. Asterisk is used in the character string after the LMU FID as a place holder for a nominal spacing rule for loaded cable. Also appears before the action code associated with the FID to identify a correction from a previous issue of the service order.
  7. Period is used to specify hundredths of a unit length (i.e. feet, kilofeet, miles).
  8. This FID is entered in the Outside Plant Facilities Subset.
  9. T and X order types prohibited for Access Service application.

Element Rules:

The Cable Description element is comprised of three sub-elements:  Cable Designation, Load Coil Spacing and Load Coil Type.  The code set values are a combination of cable designations from BR-756-554-744.  Only the codes *, NL, BT will be used to populate the sub-element "Load Coil Spacing", and only the code '*' will have a Load Coil Type sub-element following it.  The sub- element "Cable Designation" is required except when the code value for the "Load Coil Spacing" sub-element is 'BT'.  In this case, the sub-element "Cable Designation" is optional.  Sub-elements "Load Coil Spacing" and "Lo
The first Cable Description element must contain the code values of either 'NL' or '*' for its sub- element "Load Coil Spacing".  Subsequent Cable Description elements denote either a gauge change in the cable or the existence of a bridge tap, and can occur anywhere in the LMU string.
