FID RULES/CONSTRAINTS:

  1. The FID NP may be shown recapped on C, R and X order types.
  2. T, F, X and A order types prohibited for Access Service application.

SERVICE ORDER ACTIVITY NOTES:

  1. The customer's name, address, special symbol and NP, in lieu of the telephone number, are included in listing services products such as Directory Assistance records.  NP is used with the Listing Instruction Code (NON-PUB).
  2. Special non-published listings which do not appear in any listing services products at the request of the customer.  NP is used with the Listing Instruction Code (SPNP).
  3. Emergency non-published listings (those where the customer wishes to be notified in case of an emergency) which do not appear in the listing services products but are included in Directory Assistance records.  NP is used with Listing Instruction Code (ENP).

Element Rules:

The data entry must include the Listing Instruction Code (ENP), (NON-PUB) or (SPNP) and at least one character followed by a comma, a comma and space, a semicolon or a semicolon and space.
The data entry may include the surname or firm name, given name and/or initials associated with the surname, additional names, words or letters associated with the firm name, titles of lineal descent (surname listings only), titles of address (surname listings only) and Listing Instruction Codes.
The maximum of 1000 characters of data includes the Designation (DGN) FID and its data.
The following Listing Instruction Codes allowed with NP are mutually exclusive within the same data entry and when present, must appear as the first data in the data entry:
- (ADNL)
- (DNL)
- (ENP)
- (NON-PUB)
- (SPNP)
Additionally, if the following Listing Instruction Codes appear, they should be sequenced as shown:
- (CEX)
- (LNB)
- (LNG)
- (LNR)
- (OCLS)
- (ONAD)
- (VEX)
- (NWPS)
- (WNIB) or (BNIB)
Comma and space separates surname from given name and/or initials, and also given name and/or initials from titles of address (COL, REV, DR, etc.).
Semicolon identifies the finding word or letter(s) in firm name listings.
A single  hyphen may be used between words, numbers, letters or groups of letters. They are treated as spaces. A double hyphen identifies a caption or subcaption entry.
Parentheses enclose guideline data, i.e., the portions of a listing that are already established.
Plus sign precedes lineal descent suffixes (JR, SR, etc.) in surname listings.
Double parentheses may be used only when the parentheses are to print in the directory.
A double virgule is used when the virgule is to appear printed in the directory. A single virgule is allowed only preceding a floated FID.
Asterisk indicates capitalization exception.
